November feast!

Here are the Pilgrims and Native Americans in room 7 enjoying their feast together.  Many thanks for all the supplies sent in to help it be successful!  I hope you had  a wonderful break and were able to enjoy time with your families and think about the great things you're thankful for!  Happy Thanksgiving!

Ocean World in October!

October has flown by!  We had a great time seeing AND touching real ocean animals at the Ocean World program!

We've been learning new letters each week.  So far we have learned the letters t,f,b,m,n,i,u,g,a,d,s, e, and r. They are doing a great job at using their "best guess" spelling.  You'll notice in their writing there may not be too many vowels, we are trying to write down the sounds we hear.  The beginning sound is usually the easiest to figure out then we stretch out the word and listen for other sounds.  I use a rubber band to show them how to stretch out the words.  We've been doing some interactive writing where the kids will take turns coming up with all the parts of a story (one story was bout a lion jumping out of his cage at the zoo and another about a fall day playing and going in a pool).  I'm stretching the words out as I write them and volunteers have been coming up to fill in letters/sight words.  The sight words we've added to our wall are mom, I, in, is, it, the, to, do, dad, a, am,, and, at and can.



In math we have been working on printing the numbers 0-10, using number poems to help us, counting groups of objects and making combinations of 5 (2,3/1,4/0,5 for example) and making combinations of 10 (which is very tricky!)

First day!

We had a great first day today!!  We did soo much!  We had our snack, we did calendar, we listened to the Kissing Hand  we made our own kissing hands, we went to art, we had lunch and recess, free time with our friends, went on a scavenger hunt in the class and ended the hunt with picking something out of the treasure box!  We were busy!

September news

Welcome to room 7!  It has been so nice chatting with everyone at the screening appointments!  If you did not order supplies through the school using the kits, please remember to send them in during the first week of school.

Reminders for the first day, bring a snack, a blanket/towel for rest time, and a lunch (or make sure you have set up the school bucks account if your child plans on buying).
